An island dressing is an absorbent pad set in the middle of an adhesive border, so you cover a wound and fix the dressing in one step, with no tape. AeroFix island dressings are sterile and latex-free, with a soft non-woven backing that follows the shape of knees, elbows and forearms and stays comfortable under clothing. They suit larger cuts, grazes and abrasions, and wounds that have been stitched.

Sizes are the overall dressing, including the adhesive border. The absorbent pad in the centre is smaller than the overall size on every side, so choose a dressing whose pad, not the whole dressing, covers the wound with a margin to spare. The 6 x 8cm and 9 x 10cm sizes cover most workplace and sports injuries and come singly or in a box of 50. The 9 x 15cm and 9 x 20cm sizes cover long grazes and wounds on the leg or back and come singly or in a box of 20.

How to use

1. Clean the wound and dry the surrounding skin.
2. Choose a size whose pad (the absorbent centre, which is smaller than the overall dressing) is larger than the wound on every side.
3. Open the wrapper and peel off the backing paper without touching the pad.
4. Centre the pad over the wound and smooth the adhesive border down firmly.
5. Change the dressing when it is wet, soiled or lifting, or as advised by a health professional.

Single use only. Do not use if the wrapper is damaged. Apply and remove with care on fragile skin, and stop using it if redness or irritation develops. For first aid use; seek medical advice for deep, large or infected wounds. Always follow the directions for use.
